Google Pixel 9a: Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming Launch in India

The latest in the Google a-series, the Pixel 9a has been officially introduced by Google and it is said to be designed to delight the users with premium features within affordable range. However, the device was originally scheduled for the launch in March 2025. A delay was confirmed owing to a quality issue of components from Google. Nevertheless, Pixel 9a will be launched across India in April 2025.

Design and Display

This time, the Pixel 9a dons a new design on a flat and rounded profile, finally departing from the traditional camera bar on Pixel models. Its Actua display measures 6.3 inches, 35% brighter than the Pixel 8a, and offers a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate to facilitate users in smooth scrolls and gaming.

ThePixel 9a has a dual rear camera comprising a 48 MP main sensor with a 13 MP ultrawide lens. For the first time in the A series, it comes with Macro Focus to help with close-ups. The camera also supports Google signature features like Night Sight, Magic Eraser, and Real Tone, ensuring accurate skin tones.

Performance and Battery Life

The Google Tensor G4 processor powers the Pixel 9a with 8 GB of RAM. Storage will be available in two variants-128 GB and 256 GB.

Moreover, it encompasses a battery of 5100 mAh and offers fast and Qi wireless charging. According to Google, the customer would be able to enjoy the online experience for 30 hours on a single charge, under normal use.

Software and AI integration

Gemini Nano: an assistance-based AI with the ability to enrich with real-time translations, call screening, and intelligent text suggestions will be featured in the Pixel 9a. The device will report the new version of Android, namely Android 15, and will enjoy software updates for seven years after purchase (patches and general Android upgrades included).

Price and Availability in India 

The global price of the Pixel 9a is pegged at $499. In India, the estimated price is around ₹41,999 for the entry-level 128 GB version, making it a formidable player in the mid-range segment.

Expected to be available for pre-bookings on the first week of April 2025, with official sales starting shortly thereafter, the Pixel 9a would be available through Flipkart, India's official partner for Google. Other major offline retailers would also stock the phone.
