Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound Set to Premiere at Cannes 2025

Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan is making a triumphant return to the Cannes Film Festival with his latest film, Homebound, which has been officially selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes edition. This marks a poignant moment—exactly a decade after his critically lauded debut, Masaan, premiered in the same category in 2015.

Homebound brings together a powerhouse cast, including Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. Notably, this project reunites Kapoor and Khatter, who previously starred together in Dhadak. The film is produced by Dharma Productions, with Karan Johar onboard as the executive producer.

As highlighted by the Indian Express, the Un Certain Regard section is known for spotlighting innovative storytelling and emerging cinematic voices. Ghaywan’s Masaan won both the FIPRESCI Prize and the Promising Future Award in this category, cementing his international recognition.

With Homebound, Ghaywan continues his exploration of emotionally layered narratives, further establishing his reputation as a global filmmaker. The film is also significant in that it is the only Indian feature selected in the official lineup for Cannes this year—a testament to the growing presence of Indian cinema on the world stage, as reported by The Statesman.

The film is scheduled to premiere during the Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 13 to 24, 2025.
