New Sony WH-1000XM6 Headphones Launched

Sony has officially unveiled the WH-1000XM6, its next-gen noise-canceling headphones. Compared to the XM5, the new QN3 processor is said to be seven times faster, offering even better real-time noise cancellation thanks to a 12-microphone array as reported by GSMArena.

The audio quality also sees an upgrade with 30mm drivers made of carbon fiber composite, designed for clearer mids and punchier bass. According to 9to5Toys, Sony also reintroduces a foldable design, a much-requested feature that improves portability over the fixed form of the XM5.

Comfort gets a boost with a wider, asymmetrical headband, and there's a new compact carrying case with a magnetic clasp for convenience. The XM6 supports LDAC, AAC, SBC, and LC3, ensuring wide codec compatibility. What Hi-Fi mentions the inclusion of AI-enhanced beamforming mics for clearer calls, even in noisy environments.

In terms of price, the headphones are launching at $449 in the US, £399 in the UK, and are expected to cost around ₹40,000–₹45,000 in India. The Independent also confirms the addition of a new Midnight Blue color option, alongside Black and Platinum Silver.

Pre-orders are now live in several regions, with shipping starting in June 2025. In markets like Mexico, AS México reports exclusive gifts for early buyers.
