Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat Renovation Faces Legal Troubles Over CRZ Violations
Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Mannat house is undergoing major renovations, but faces legal issues over Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) violations. Get the latest updates on the renovation plans and legal proceedings.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is planning to do massive alterations to his Mumbai residence, Mannat, this coming summer. The family will most probably move out temporarily to allow renovation construction. However, the renovation has hit a snag over legal issues because of alleged violations of required regulatory procedures.
Renovation Plans and Allegations
As rumored, Shah Rukh Khan would have extended his exisiting six-story building into two floors. A social activist has filed a protest petition before the National Green Tribunal (NGT), alleging that the requisite Coastal Regulation Zone clearance to carry out renovation works at Mannat, a Grade III heritage structure requires government sanction for any modification. Further, Daundkar alleges, the superstar has converted twelve 1-BHK flats originally earmarked for mass housing into single-family residence.
Response of NGT
The NGT has asked Daundkar to prove his allegations within four weeks. If he fails to do so, his petition may be dismissed. Next hearing is set for April 23. For the temporary stay, reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan and family will move to a luxury apartment in Mumbai's Pali Hill area before commencing the renovation work.
Mannat is a very broad name in Mumbai's Bandra Bandstand area, especially to the people many deem it a tourists' haven as it draws many visiting fanatic fans who give the hope of catching a sight of the Bollywood superstar. Not to mention, with the majesty of the mansion and the fame that has befallen Khan, it has now secured a permanent place among those landmarks in the city.
As developments arise, legal proceedings will determine what is in store for the renovations of Mannat.
