The Indian government has introduced a fund worth $1 billion for the purpose of enhancing the creator economy of the country. The fund will prepare content creators to work and upskill in global markets; this includes an allocation of ₹4 billion for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai, which underlines India's efforts toward nurturing creative talent.

Countries like South Korea and Spain have already tasted the sweet fruit of a creative economy, one that is turning into a gold mine in India. The media and entertainment sectors in India are witnessing rapid growth, and it is now time for India to clamor for its share of success in the international arena alongside attesting to its superpower status. The burgeoning user-generated content market in India is poised to reach $1.1 billion by the year 2027, itself a testament to the great opportunities this very space has.

Amidst such ambitious investment, worries have been expressed by some professionals within the industry regarding the absence of any concrete strategy for the fund's disbursement and implementation. Guidelines and strong execution have to be in place to ensure that the scheme benefits content creators in a real sense, thus adding value to the economy.

This humongous investment is an acknowledgment of India's realization of the creator economy constituting an important driver of economic growth and culture. The goal is to put Indian content creators at a very visible position in the international arena.
