Vadodara Car Crash Update: Law Student's Intoxication Claims Under Investigation
Latest update on the Vadodara car crash: Law student Rakshit Chaurasia arrested after a high-speed collision kills one and injures four. CCTV footage shows him holding a bottle before the accident. Investigation ongoing.

On March 14, 2025, a very unfortunate event occurred in Vadodara in Gujarat, where a speeding car being driven by a 20-year-old law student named Rakshit Chaurasia collided with to wheeler vehicles killing one woman and injuring four others.
The recent CCTV footage reveals what really happened shortly before the crash. The CCTV footages show that Chaurasia and his friend came to a house on a scooter; Chaurasia was seen holding a bottle of an unidentifiable drink. The two remained inside the house for around 45 minutes and afterward emerged in a black sedan, where Chaurasia took the driving seat.
Eyewitness reports described that Chaurasia appeared drunk, shouting, when coming out of the car, "Another round, another round". One of the injured victims testified that Rakshit Chaurasia was speeding for fun and looked drunk.
Chaurasia asserts that he is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and was not under the influence of alcohol during the accident, which he has stated was due to falling into a pothole causing him to lose control of the vehicle. This account is complemented by his view that the car was going only at 50 kmph.
His investigations led to further revelations that with this set of accidents, he had another one recently in February, where he and his friends were alleged to be drunk and creating havoc around Vadodara. The locals had thrashed them but let them go with a warning.
Both Chaurasia and his friend have been arrested, while the authorities are awaiting forensic reports to ascertain the true nature of the intoxicants consumed.
The incident has had many discussions about road safety and stricter penalties for reckless driving in India.
