India Wins Second Consecutive Women's U-19 T20 World Cup Title against South Africa

India's Under-19 Women’s cricket team secured their second consecutive ICC U-19 Women's T20 World Cup title with a dominant nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the final held at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, on February 2, 2025.

South Africa, after winning the toss and electing to bat, struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack. The Proteas were bowled out for a modest total of 82 runs in 20 overs. Mieke van Voorst was the top scorer for South Africa with 23 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup found it difficult to counter India’s relentless bowling. Leading the attack was India's Gongadi Trisha, who delivered an outstanding performance, picking up 3 wickets for just 15 runs. The Indian bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, ensuring that South Africa never gained momentum.

Chasing a target of 83 runs, India made light work of the chase, reaching 84 for 1 in just 11.2 overs. Trisha continued her stellar form, contributing an unbeaten 44 runs, ensuring that India cruised to victory without any major setbacks. Alongside her, Soumya Tiwari played a steady knock, supporting the chase effectively. 

This victory marks India’s second consecutive U-19 Women's T20 World Cup title, reinforcing their dominance in the junior women's cricket scene. Trisha’s all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Match award, further solidifying her reputation as one of the brightest young talents in women’s cricket.
