The 97th Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, are set to take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Leading the nominations is Emilia Pérez with 13 nods, making history as the most-nominated non-English-language film to date. Following closely are The Brutalist and Wicked, each securing 10 nominations. Other notable contenders include A Complete Unknown and Conclave, both with eight nominations. 

Historic Milestones

Emilia Pérez has set a new record for non-English-language films with its 13 nominations, surpassing previous titles like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Roma. Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, for her role in Emilia Pérez, has become the first openly transgender performer to receive an acting nomination. Additionally, I'm Still Here is the first Portuguese-language film nominated for Best Picture.

The event will be hosted by Conan O'Brien and broadcast live on ABC and Hulu in the United States. International viewers can tune in via their respective local networks. The ceremony will feature musical performances by artists such as Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doja Cat, Raye, Lisa of BlackPink, and Queen Latifah. Notably, Grande and Erivo are set to perform a piece from the musical Wicked.
