A trader in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk was robbed of ₹80 lakh at gunpoint in Lahori Gate. The incident, captured on CCTV, has raised safety concerns among traders and locals.

Public safety is about to face a serious threat by daylight robbery in the Lahori Gate area of Delhi. A trader, robbed at gunpoint in the busy lanes of Haveli Haider Quli, Chandni Chowk, approximately ₹ 80 lakh in cash, was traveling by 17 March 2025. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, regarding how an assailant snatched a bag containing the cash and fled the scene.
They have been fully investigating with the Delhi Police into this incident by looking into surveillance footage to identify and capture the suspect. It has given rise to concerns among local traders and residents about how these issues would approve measures in security for commercial areas.
The media reported that in its latest development regarding the case, the Delhi High Court has given bail to Vikas Bharti, who was behind bars for the last six and a half years regarding the robbery and murder of Rakesh Jain, a Chandni Chowk money exchanger, in 2018. The court provided as reasons for granting bail poor evidence and the lengthy period of trial.
These incidents have once again revived demands for stronger security protocols in commercial areas of Delhi for traders and public use.
