The image would feature a map of India with markers on 150 cities, showing real-time air quality data. Color-coded pollution levels would be displayed, along with icons representing AI and technology. The design would highlight environmental awareness, focusing on clean, modern visuals to reflect Google’s commitment to public health and sustainability.

To fight the worsening air pollution crisis, Google today unveiled a hyperlocal air quality insights ecosystem-driven solution called Air View+. The initiative comes at an apt time as Delhi-NCR and many such regions are badly reeling under hazardous levels of pollution in the air, adversely affecting human health and quality of life.

It is a collaboration between local climate technology start-ups, researchers, and organizations that bridge the gap in actionable data for hyperlocal areas, enabling citizens, as well as authorities, to take informed steps towards improving air quality.

Expansion of Air Quality Sensor Network

Google partnered with some climate tech firms, including Aurassure and Respirer Living Sciences, to make a robust monitoring framework. Together, they have put up a large number of air-quality sensors in more than 150 Indian cities. These will be fitted fixed to utility poles, administrative centres, and commercial buildings.

These monitor pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, NO2, CO2, ozone, and VOCs, plus some data regarding temperature and humidity. This makes it possible to update at any minute of the minute.

Thoroughly Validated Data

In collaboration with top-tier research institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, and state pollution boards, Google calibrated these with proper accuracy. Organizations such as CSTEP and sustainability-focused startups helped use Google AI to analyze the data. This equates to instantaneous, scalable insights that can better urban planning or environmental policies.

Integration with Google Maps

With Air View+, accessing air quality information is incredibly easy. Users can view hyperlocal air quality data directly on Google Maps by selecting the "Air Quality" layer through the Layer button. In addition, the Weather widget in the Explore tab provides users with instant AQI insights at their current location.

Enabling Climate Action

Air View+, which provides real-time and localized air quality insights, is set to spur collective action among governments, corporations, researchers, and citizens. This effort not only builds awareness but also lays the ground for sustainable solutions for this massive challenge in air pollution in India.

It's an important step toward the use of technology for betterment in both environment and other sectors by Google. Hyperlocal focus brings promise to make promising progress toward the solution of one of the most critical issues related to human survival.
