#BoycottLaila Trends: Vishwak Sen Responds to Controversy Over Prudhvi Raj’s Comments
Laila movie

The upcoming Telugu film "Laila," starring Vishwak Sen, has recently become the center of a social media controversy leading to the trending hashtag #BoycottLaila. The situation arose from remarks made by actor Prudhvi Raj during the film's pre-release event.

At the pre-release event, Prudhvi Raj made comments that were perceived as political satire, indirectly referencing a political party's decline in assembly seats. These remarks were interpreted by supporters of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) as derogatory towards their organization. In response, YSRCP supporters initiated the #BoycottLaila trend on social media platforms, expressing their discontent and calling for a boycott of the film.

Vishwak Sen and Producer Address the Issue

In light of the escalating controversy, lead actor Vishwak Sen and producer Sahu Garapati held a press conference to clarify their positions. Sahu Garapati expressed surprise over the backlash, stating that he and Vishwak Sen were unaware of Prudhvi Raj's comments during the event, as they were occupied with other responsibilities at that time. He extended an apology to anyone who felt offended by the remarks.

Vishwak Sen highlighted the rapid spread of the #BoycottLaila trend, noting that it had garnered approximately 25,000 tweets. He expressed concern over threats to leak a pirated HD version of the movie, emphasizing that such actions would adversely affect the livelihoods of everyone involved in the film's production. He urged the public not to penalize the entire team for the statements of a single individual and apologized on behalf of Prudhvi Raj.

The controversy has cast a shadow over the film's release, scheduled for February 14, 2025. Despite the challenges, the "Laila" team remains hopeful that audiences will judge the film on its own merits rather than the surrounding controversy. The incident underscores the significant impact that public figures' statements can have on a project's reception and the importance of addressing public concerns promptly and transparently.
