A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district, approximately 65 km east of Kathmandu, in the early hours of Friday, February 28, 2025. The tremor occurred around 2:35 AM local time, with its epicenter near Bhairab Kunda, close to the Himalayan mountain range bordering Tibet.
The quake was felt across central and eastern Nepal, including Kathmandu, and extended to parts of India, such as Patna and Muzaffarpur in Bihar, as well as regions in Tibet.
