Singer Kalpana Raghavendar Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt in Hyderabad

Famous playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar underwent treatment following an alleged suicide attempt at her residence in Nizampet, Hyderabad, on March 2, 2025. The unconscious state was allegedly induced by ingesting sleeping pills, and she has been receiving treatment on ventilator support since then. Kalpana's condition is said to be stable.

Concern arose because she had not been responding for two days, and hence the apartment security alerted the residents. The neighbors called in the police, who broke into her house only to find her lying unconscious. She was immediately sent for treatment to a private hospital. The motives behind her attempt at suicide remain ambiguous, and an investigation has finally begun.

Kalpana, whose father is the legendary playback singer T.S. Raghavendra, has always been an industrious singer with over 1,500 songs to his credit in various languages. She came to the national limelight after winning Star Singer Malayalam in 2010 and has since worked with eminent composers, including Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rahman. She has also been part of Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1 and judged several music reality shows.

The hospital has had a continuous stream of visitors from the music fraternity, including singers Sunitha, Srikrishna, Geetha Madhuri, and Karunya, who came to inquire about her health and offer support.
