Will SRH make it to the Playoffs ? Daniel Vettori and Pat Cummins React as SRH lose 4 in a Row in IPL 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad suffer their fourth consecutive defeat in IPL 2025. Head coach Daniel Vettori and captain Pat Cummins address the team’s struggles and share insights on the road ahead.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's IPL 2025 campaign has begun to slip into dangerous territory with loss number four, this time at the hands of the Gujarat Titans. A weak 152/8 was chased down at ease by the Titans, leaving SRH languishing low in the points table with very serious questions over the viability of their playoff hopes.
From powerplays that fizzle out to death overs that go off-script, SRH’s problems seem to be compounding match after match. While there's still time to turn things around, the team’s leadership knows the clock is ticking.
Daniel Vettori: “We understand the ramifications.”
Head coach Daniel Vettori didn't mince words following the defeat.
> “We understand the ramifications of losing four in a row,” he said. “We still believe in the squad, but it’s about executing our plans better under pressure. We’ve had strong passages of play — but we’re letting go of games in critical moments.”
Vettori also noted the need for more composure, especially while chasing. SRH’s batting collapses have become a pattern, and addressing that has become a top priority in team meetings.
Pat Cummins: “This is where leadership counts.”
Skipper Pat Cummins, who has led the side with calm authority, acknowledged the frustration — but urged his squad to stay grounded.
“It’s tough. No one wants four losses on the bounce. But this is where leadership and character count,” he said. “We're not panicking. But we know we’ve got to step up. Every match matters from here.”
Cummins defended the team’s attacking intent, saying it’s part of SRH’s brand of cricket — but emphasized that game awareness needs to improve. “Aggression is our identity. But there’s a fine line — and we need to play the smart moments better.”
Next Stop: Punjab Kings—A Must-Win Clash
With SRH set to face Punjab Kings on April 12, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Another loss could all but end their playoff ambitions. Players like Klaasen, Markram, and Abhishek Sharma will need to find form, and the bowling unit must rediscover its edge.
The mood in the camp remains hopeful — but the margin for error is now razor-thin. For SRH, the time for "what went wrong" is over. It’s now about what needs to go right — and fast.
