Rekha Gupta Sworn In as Delhi CM – BJP's Historic Victory After 27 Years

In a historic move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Rekha Gupta as the Chief Minister of Delhi, marking the party's first governance in the capital after 27 years. Gupta, a 50-year-old former student leader, was sworn in today at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.

Gupta's selection over prominent leaders like Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, and Ashish Sood underscores the BJP's commitment to promoting leaders with grassroots experience. Her political journey began in student politics, advancing through municipal administration to her current role as an MLA from Shalimar Bagh.

In her inaugural address, Chief Minister Gupta outlined her administration's priorities, focusing on critical issues such as combating pollution, enhancing infrastructure, and improving public services in Delhi. She emphasized her dedication to transparency and accountability, stating that any instances of corruption would be thoroughly investigated.

Notably, Gupta has decided against residing in the official Chief Minister's residence, often referred to as "Sheesh Mahal." When questioned about this choice, she firmly responded, "Nahi, nahi," indicating her preference for a modest lifestyle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations, highlighting Gupta's ascent from grassroots activism to the Chief Minister's office. He expressed confidence in her ability to drive Delhi's development with vigor and dedication.

The BJP's victory in Delhi signifies a significant political shift, as the party regains control of the capital after nearly three decades. This change is expected to influence the city's political landscape and governance in the coming years.
